If you think about it, if you do not use your little finger, loses 20% of the capacity of the left hand. If you played for 3 years and do not use fingers 4, then I guess you can not play anything more complicated than just an agreement, and you must use the finger to a large number of agreements .. . particular for contracts bar ...

If you do not really play guitar, then continue to do what you do .. If some of the arrangements and melodies more complex than you need to expand the 4 fingers.

You may think I'm totally crap, but the teacher was my teacher, Paul Gilbert, and I hit him once. not mentioned at all, lol.

But my teacher told me that Paul has always used his little finger. To be honest, it's much faster if you use it, and you will see that after a few weeks or even years, only a few weeks ago, the practice of this kind, the second, even more than will be achieved.

In short, the answer is no, you do not use on the pinkie, but why not? can do better.

Many great guitarists of recent years had the "rotten" Pinky and then out of nowhere, in some songs .. they use it and it disappears again! Clapton, Page, Vaughn, Trower, Beck, see some old videos of them .. to see what I mean. Although not technically necessary, the little finger ... It is much better to learn, a few good exercises, the fingers almost touching the little finger to annoy!

I recently had the opportunity to see a show of Blue Grass. Believe it or not ... 5-string banjo is not on every finger of his left hand or typing. Everything that the thumb is used as a birth defect caused an accident and very deformed fingers. This man was too fast and not miss Mark!

I have neither the finger in meine 1 2 years of playing guitar.
I began to learn very quickly neoclassical (Yngwie Malmsteen) solo.

I realized how important it was actually used to move or to climb ladders and climb quickly and cleanly. if u dont u use ur hand ur Pinky has a lot more to reach those notes when reading ur at this speed, it becomes confusing when ABIT U Ur Hand see up and down like crazy.

UR and if possible, and by far the hardest to keep clean. or who might accidentally touch other frets / strings by accident. Everything seems to be a disaster!

Metal Well, I also play classical and neo-things and I've never been a song, which doesnot need without being played Pinky Ur, in any case, what is wrong, or should be able to use ur pinky otherwise lead a big problem, very late.

If you can read quite well without him, I'd say you're OK. However, in some cases, there are some songs in which the little finger is necessary to achieve success through the right tires.

When you play chords, you can use a finger to about 90% of the time.
